Where We Deliver

Jackson County and the townships and villages around it. One county, a dozen different access problems.

The footprint

One county, and a short way over each border

Our core area is Jackson County — the city, the nineteen townships and the villages inside it. We also run east into Washtenaw County for Chelsea and Manchester, north into Ingham for Leslie and Mason, and south-east into Lenawee and Hillsdale around the Irish Hills lakes.

Deliberately, that is a smaller area than most container companies advertise. A fifty-mile radius looks impressive on a map and means the person answering the phone has never seen your street. We would rather know that the drives on the north side of Clark Lake will not take a truck in April, that half the streets in central Jackson are too narrow for kerbside placement, and that a Springport farm lane is a different proposition from a Michigan Center bungalow.

What changes town to town

Four things that are genuinely different across this county

Housing age

The City of Jackson is overwhelmingly pre-1940 — plaster, lath and dense demolition debris. Michigan Center and the Spring Arbor subdivisions are postwar and later, which is drywall and a completely different container recommendation.

Access

Clarklake and Pleasant Lake are the hardest: narrow lake lanes, no turning room, water on one side. Napoleon and Springport are the easiest: long drives and open ground. The city is in between, with street width as the constraint.

Who issues the permit

The City of Jackson, the villages of Brooklyn, Manchester and Parma, nineteen townships, the cities of Chelsea, Leslie and Mason, and the county road department. Street placement means knowing which one you are standing in.

Ground

Gravel and clay dominate the townships, and both become unusable in thaw. The city is mostly paved drives, which is why spring is far less disruptive there than it is out in the county.

Scheduling

How the runs work

We route by geography rather than by order of booking, because a truck that criss-crosses the county all day delivers fewer containers and arrives later everywhere. In practice that means the day tends to split — city and the immediate ring in one part, the lake country and the eastern villages in another, and the western and northern townships in a third.

It is worth knowing because it affects what we can promise. If you ring on a morning when the truck is already working the Irish Hills, a same-day delivery to Brooklyn or Clarklake is realistic and one to Springport probably is not. Ask and we will tell you honestly where the day sits rather than booking you a slot we are going to miss.

If your job has a fixed date — a closing, an inspection, a crew booked — say so at the start. That moves you out of the routing logic and onto a committed slot.

If you are not on it

The table above is where we run regularly, not a hard boundary. Addison, Clinton, Tecumseh, Cement City, Somerset Center, Onondaga, Albion, Marshall, Eaton Rapids and Hillsdale are all reachable, and we take work in all of them when the day allows.

What we will not do is tell you yes and then not turn up. If your address is on the edge, ring and describe it. We will either give you a date or tell you plainly that you are better off with somebody closer — which is a more useful answer than a booking that quietly slips twice.

Common questions

What people ask when they call

Do you deliver into Washtenaw County?

Yes — Chelsea and Manchester are regular stops, and the rest of western Washtenaw is reachable. The permit authority is different there, so street placement needs a conversation.

How far out of Jackson will you go?

Roughly the county plus one town over in each direction as standard, and further by arrangement. Ring with the address rather than working off a radius.

Can I get same-day delivery?

Sometimes, depending on where the truck already is. Call early in the day and ask — the honest answer depends entirely on the run.

Is service different in the city compared with the townships?

The container is the same; the constraints are not. Street width and permits in the city, ground conditions and drive length in the townships.

Does distance change anything for the outlying towns?

It changes scheduling more than anything else — an outlying address has to fit a run that is already heading that way. Terms for your specific address are confirmed on the phone.

Which towns are hardest to deliver to?

The lake communities — Clarklake, Pleasant Lake, the Irish Hills lanes. Narrow, no turning room, and often soft ground. Not impossible, but they need a proper conversation about placement.

Tell us your address

Two minutes on the phone settles the size, the placement and the day.
